On June 5th, 2002 fourteen year old Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from her bedroom by Brian David Mitchell. Mitchell held her for nine months along with Wanda Ileen Barzee. Elizabeth was rescued on March 12, 2003, only about eighteen miles from the home she had been kidnapped from. Her rescue was due to her being recongnised by someone who had seen pictures of her.
