The "Celebrity Snapshot Search' project was started in July 2009
by three teenage girls trying to do whatever they could to find Haleigh Cummings.
The project is simple, ask celebrities to either print out a missing poster of a
child or ask for a tee-shirt (sent to them free-of-charge) featuring a missing
child and have a picture taken of themselves holding the poster or wearing the
shirt. The picture is then posted online for their fans to see. As we realized
that this project had the potential to truly help find missing children,
the project expanded until it became what it is today.
Snapshot Search is dedicated to helping find missing children in anyway we can.
No longer focusing on only Haleigh it was decided that on January 1st, 2010
the main focus will shift to another child for four months and start a cycle
of one child being the main focus of the project for four months at a time or
until they are found. Other children previously the main focus will remain
involved as an additional focus until they are recovered as well. Celebrities
participating in the Snapshot Search for the current child will be asked
if they would like to take an additional picture for another missing child
and the children will also remain covered with the 'Do Your Own Snapshot Search'
project. Snapshot Search has also expanded to include prayer vigils taking place
on a regular basis. Starting on January 1st, 2010 the prayer vigils will alternate.
As a new child is made the main focus of the project the next upcoming prayer
vigil will be specifically for them. The vigil after that will be for all missing
children and when the focus shifts again it will be for the new child and the
vigils will continue in that pattern. Snapshot Search will also have seasonal
projects and other smaller projects designed for further help in the search
for missing children.
This project serves no other purpose other then to bring missing children home
where they belong. It is our hope that every child we cover will be brought
back to their family alive. We have no plans to stop until all missing children
are home.
